Two Principles

Our world have become so overcrowded that new entrants are being encouraged to seek out niche market. The bigger problem is that there are too many people who does not have the desire to put in the necessary work and effort but somehow expect to reap big rewards for mediocre effort or reap immediate success. There are too many people whose greatest dream is to win a multi million jackpot by buying the lottery. Most persons if they win the lottery will in five years end up back where they initially begun.

It is a given principle of life that what is sown will be also what is reaped. The principle extends to the fact that sowing and reaping does not occur at the same times as it pertains to the same crop. There is a time span in between where growth and maturity takes place and then comes the time for harvest. The idea behind sowing is to reap an harvest and this implies reaping an amount that far exceed the amount that was initially sown.  What ever is accumulated over time will most likely last a life time.

The principle of sowing and reaping is supported by another principle, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly. Although the soil may be fertile  where the crop is planted the reality is that there are  limits and sometimes results will be determined not by the fertility of the soil but by the amount that was sown. Planting must take place at the right time and in accordance with whether it is for household use or as a commercial crop.

Our world is being overrun with those who are sowing very little but are expecting great rewards. In addition to this there are novices who are being given formulas by the experts that will guarantee that they never succeed. The novices are being asked to study the experts and based on what is learnt from the experts then give their best initially. This again will require time and effort but our world demands immediate results. Success need a foundation and fuel to sustain it and these are lacking then success soon become failure.

The overcrowding in our world is also leading to mental deficiencies to the point where failure is being rewarded. Mental toughness is being discouraged and shortcuts are created to success. Our world is now overcrowded with qualified people who are lacking in the knowledge that goes along with the qualification. People who now have the qualification must now get certification.

It is a given that children although they share the same mother and father  are most times totally different from each other. Within the genes of a child may be displayed character traits from  past generations. This is why it is important to teach and allow children independence. Unfortunately in a child's early years the child thinks in terms of pursuing a path that pleases parents and teachers. It is often later that the child sometimes begin to discover a natural leaning and sometimes this is not discovered until adulthood. The earlier that a child understand that what is conceived in the mind is possible will be the better for the child.

The principle of sowing and reaping and also that of sowing sparingly leading to reaping sparingly is a principle that should be taught to children. Children should be taught these principle and shown how these principle can be applied to the mind. The mind if  it applies these principles will envision the limitless possibilities that life will offer or at the worst find that niche that although small will provide a life of endless possibilities

What Next?

After the goals have been accomplished, the dreams come true and the aspirations realized  there often rises the question, what next? Was it worth the price? If I had to do the whole thing over what would I change?

Life is generous and our lives does not have to be relived in order to make changes but rather all that is needed is to proceed into the future while learning from our past. While our desire is to live a life free from errors, mistakes and regrets the reality is that we have no control over time, events and circumstances. This results in a guarantee that the  stress factors in life by being outside our control along with the realities that life presents us with various options to ensure that we make errors and mistakes. Life is so generous that it presents many options of which only one can be taken and we are always  left wondering, what if? Or uttering the words of regret, if only or asking what next?.

Sometimes we miss the obvious and so it was only very recently that it dawned on me that parents have a responsibility to make childhood such an exhilarating experience that our children actually look forward to becoming parents. Recently a young woman lamented that there was no man who was good enough for her to bear his child so she will not have a child. A couple proclaimed that they were waiting for financial independence before becoming parents because their children must have the best.

We are living in a world of selfishness where individuals become so obsessed with their goals, desires and pursuit  that they become the focus of their lives. Children are seen as things that will disrupt goals, aims and aspirations. AS these are pursued one big question that is often asked is this, what is the purpose of my life? Have I a destiny? After my destiny is accomplished, what next?

We live in a world where telling a woman that she should aspire to become a wife and mother is considered demeaning and being disrespectful. Telling a man to pass on his genes is cause for ridicule and some even see as encouraging promiscuity. The reality of life is that it is the women who are equipped to bear children and children should never be seen as a burden. We shall soon be having an interesting situation if the ambitious and brilliant among the women leave child bearing and rearing to the "unambitious and unlearned" women. The time will come when after wealth, fame  and luxury are amassed then the question rises, what purpose do these serve and also, what next?

Maybe there is some wisdom in some couples not having children because quite often children become products of their environment. It will be impossible for couples to pass on to children values that they do not posses or have learned. This contribute to the irony of present day relationships because many couples enter relationships based on factors determined by computers or based on sex appeal. We try to hide the terrible things about ourselves from a each other with the hope that by the time  of discovery of these terrible traits we would have been too far gone  to back out. we use the excuse that we want the best for our children so we are delaying when the truth is that we want to pursue our selfish motive and children will get in the way. The great thing is that beauty does not reflect values and when two people  come together and each does not want their child to be a replica of themselves, what next?

Wealth and luxury are fantastic commodities but always being exposed to these makes them ordinary to those who are accustomed to having wealth and luxury. Wealth and luxury affords certain standard and expectations but there is a limit to what is conceived by man so when these limits are reached, what next? Life, I believe, observe events and laugh because one man has wealth and  there is nothing for him to do with it except boast of his wealth, another man lives in poverty and desires wealth so as to meet his basic need. If a true assessment is done the wealthy man is often no more happier than the man who lives in poverty. Wealthy people have a longer life expectancy than poor people but the wealthy does not necessarily outlive the poor so, what next?

The future has been presenting some glorious prospects in that it is offering the the same prospects to all that its has been doling out in recent times. These prospects involve what happens in the future especially if we should die because now we face the possibility if we should die on being cremated our ashes may be used to fertilize the soil or left to lay around until by mistake it is thrown out with the garbage. This thought is rather pleasant as we see more and more people go this route and there is no reminder on anything of their ever having been on this earth. This leaves us desiring to find a way to achieve immortality but in the mean while we ask, what next?

Reflecting on children and birds

Sometimes we miss the beginning of a story but the portion of the story that we hear gives thoughts worthy for consideration. This happened last week as I passed the television set because the voice of a distressed female grabbed my attention so I paused to look and to listen. The local television newscast was in progress and the female was pointing out two or three birds (possibly some species of pigeons) that had been sitting in a tree apparently for some days. These birds had been sitting there long enough for a resident to call a local news reporter and television camera. It was theorized that the birds had gotten accustomed to living in a house but for some reason they had been let loose. The news reporter pointed out that if these were birds that were grown inside a house then they would stand no chance in the wild because  their wings were not sufficiently developed.

These we birds were given a freedom for which they were ill prepared and the time spent in captivity left them with no idea what to do with their freedom.

Nature is amazing and as far as we know there has been no new species of birds and/or animals appearing on the earth. So it is only reasonable to surmise that nature know how to preserve and keep balances and it is mainly through the activities of man that there have been recent extinction of some species. Man quite often seek to interrupt and interfere with what is a natural process without realizing that natural imbalances will naturally be corrected.

I grew up in Jamaica and it was a known reality that wealth offered certain privileges but quite often wealthy kids were pitied because they were usually denied the joys which the non wealthy enjoyed. The present generation of kids will never see what we thoroughly enjoyed then as being fun. It is all a reflection of changing time but some things never change.

We as children were free to create and enjoy our own forms of entertainment and parents did not dictate what we should enjoy.

There are at present a cadre of parents that are weak and ineffective and they are hiding behind their children so that this weakness does not become overly obvious. These parents have classified the public school system as  being wicked, evil and corrupt and they cannot have their darling children being exposed to these conditions. The public school system caters to the majority of children but these parents choose to send their children to private schools, schools associated with the churches or home school. These children are given the best in the ideal environment in a comparable  way to the birds that are kept in captivity in a house as a pet. Children learn from their parents and the high standards of home will be taken to school also.

It is possible that these children who attend private school, church school or are home schooled will have these ideal conditions throughout their lives lasting from kindergarten to university and into the world of work. Life however, conveniently like to provide the unexpected so quite often it designs its path so that those those students who attended the wicked, evil and corrupt public schools and those who attended school in the ideal environment either crosses path or at some point in time must travel the same road.

The ideal environment for learning does not necessarily make these children any more brilliant but it also robs them of the opportunity to interact and compete with their own age group. At some point in time the ideal situation will have to be left behind and initiation into harsh reality occur.

The birds that were mentioned earlier as being kept inside a house were ill equipped for life in the wild and were in need of being rescued. The question that, remains to be answered if the children who attended private schools, church school or are home schooled are properly equipped for life? This question arises because it is not the children who designed the public school system. The public school system will remain what it is and children will be children.

I am afraid that one day some children may just discover that that they have been tread like the birds that were kept inside the house and so they are ill equipped for survival outside their controlled environment.

I am reminded of a student who was taught to display confidence, he was in a competition and when asked a question he confidently declared that he knew the answer then gave a wrong answer.

A few lessons I learned in life

It was sometimes for me not the easiest thing to associate   the bright and shiny aluminum pot sitting on the stove in the kitchen with the red earth that I often watch heavy-duty equipment load onto trucks to be carted away to the alumina plant.

One lesson in life from this is that the beginning of a thing may be inglorious but the end product is far different after being processed or metamorphosis takes place. So then bauxite may be far from the nice shiny pot, the parts used on an airplane or the metal sheeting on the roof of the house but it was the beginning product. One could also think of the caterpillar which is most times not described as being beautiful as when compared to a butterfly but it is the caterpillar that becomes the butterfly after metamorphosis takes place. There are lessons to be learned also from observing the process of mixing a cake as against buying a package of prepared cake mix. The ingredients and the delicious baked treat are so different.

A lesson that can be learned from this is that  the reality of greatness residing in our genes and/or that there is brilliance in our minds but it may take time to be fully maximized or there may need to be the ideal circumstances under which the mind will flourish.

The bauxite mining plant near where I grew up was located in natural geological basin so it was an everyday occurrence while growing up to hear the heavy-duty vehicles and equipment in the distance. It was also an easy thing to watch the heavy-duty vehicles at work in the distance because I live on a hill. The alumina plant where the bauxite was processed served as the only reliable timepiece I knew growing up because the siren announcing time to begin work, break time and draw off time and  could be heard from many miles. My father leased land from the bauxite company to do farming, the land was fertile and produced excellent crops and these same lands were later mined to remove the bauxite. There were sometimes areas which had deposits of bauxite but the bauxite was not in commercial quantity and were too difficult to access the bauxite.

A lesson from this is that in life sometimes there are choices to be made. It is the large commercial companies that have the money, equipment and know how to turn the bauxite into aluminum. However the same land that had deposits of bauxite near the surface was utilized for farming. Bauxite to my father was essentially useless but farming was the means by which he supported his family. Of course whenever he had to buy aluminum products then he had to pay the price. I did read about a time when a farmer in another parish planted crops in what appeared to be fertile earth but for some reason the crops refused to flourish so he brought in a soil expert. The soil expert eventually came to the conclusion that the crops failed because the bauxite deposits were too close to the surface. This was bad news for the farmer but good news for the bauxite mining industry.

A lesson that can be learned from this is that sometimes with the best intentions we pursue the wrong thing and a lesson in knowing how to utilize what is available. It is also a lesson that sometimes we possess things of value that will never be useful to us.

Bauxite is processed into alumina and the alumina smelted into aluminum but Jamaica does not have the facility and capacity to do the smelting. Even if a land owner should be told that there are deposits of bauxite on his land it is of little comfort to him. The next to best thing that he can do is sell the land to the bauxite mining company with the hope that he will get a reasonable price. If he decide to keep his land it will remain useless to him because there is no way that he can extract the bauxite.

A lesson that can be learned from this is that in life we need to know when to keep what we own and when it may be prudent to dispose what we own.

Bauxite mining was something that went on around me growing up. The bauxite was processed into alumina and then shipped overseas to be smelted into aluminum. This is probably, for me, why there was a disconnect between the bauxite the beginning product and aluminum the end product. Aluminum because of it strength, light weight and is malleable is widely utilized. Quite often we forget that it is the material that make the roof of the house.  Aluminum is produce in sheets and then it is up to debate as to various uses. When I was growing up there were two notorious utensils that were  made from aluminum and these were the cooking pot and the chamber pot. These two utensils were essentials but were looked on quite differently. the cooking pot was given the best treatment and had to be clean and shiny while the chamber pot while kept clean was handled with scorn.

A lesson from this is that there may be nothing wrong with what we have but the respect that we gain will be dependent on the use to which we put what we posses. In a similar way our talents and abilities can either bring us fame or we can utilize them in such a way as to us becoming objects of ridicule.

The Power of Women

Ohh!!!  Women

The ancient gods dwelling on Mt. Olympus heights
Being gods were subjected to wrongs and rights
Tempted by the rather tantalizing sights
They disguised themselves as men in their plight
Then came and enjoyed the women’s delight
Angels too leaving their own estate
Succumbed to temptations that was great
Came they and sampled what was forbidden their taste
For how the women came equipped they too could appreciate
And the angels indulged and with women did procreate
Throughout history many a man that stood so tall
Women has been their down fall
And now the women complain, lament and insist
That us mere mortal men should desist
Wanting what the gods and angels could not resist

Women have been objects of fascination ever since men have existed. The ancient Greeks while not specifying who was the first man but assigned Pandora as the first woman. These ancient Greeks clearly could not fathom woman because the felt that a greater calamity could not have befallen man that the bringing into existence of Pandora the first woman.

For some women being called a goddess by a man is regard as being held in high regard and also as a compliment. However, the ancient Greek goddesses often saw women as being in competition for the attention of the gods and the women were often subjected to the anger, wrath, hatred, envy and jealousy of the goddesses. The ancient Greek goddesses somehow were never able to retain the attention of the gods or satisfy their desires because the gods found women to be irresistible. It remain to be seen how attractive the goddesses found men but there arose many demigods and many women suffered at the hands of the goddesses through no fault of their own. These goddesses simply did not like the fact of their husbands leaving the heights of Mt. Olympus to visit the mortal women.

It is possible that the ancients Greeks with all their wisdom and military superiority could not understand how women were able to exercise control over the men. It was baffling how a large brutal and callous a man can be controlled by so small a creature as a woman.

Judeo/Christian beliefs extends to the very beginning of the existence of man and Judeo/Christian beliefs presents man as being more inclined to be more obedient to the woman than to his God. Maybe this was indicative of man being created with a flaw and the woman being his weak point.

A total description of Angels is not given but angels to seem to have fallen under the spell of women. Procreating was never intended for the angels but they too fell under the spell of the women.

It is a good thing that in our present day the gods no longer live on Mt. Olympus and the angels have been brought under control so men now do not have competition from the gods and the angels.

In our present day the mixing of the genes and different nationalities only serve to make our women more beautiful. In addition to this it is now possible to go into beauty shops and make more attractive, desirable and beautiful what is already perfect. Maybe if the gods and angels were still around then men would be in more trouble or made extinct because the gods and angels would not want to share the women.

At present a strange phenomenon is happening in our world because there are a number of countries that are reporting declining birth rates but the general population of the earth continue to grow.  The ancient Greek had to contend with demigods and the Judeo/Christians tell of a time when giants existed on the earth. Maybe we should be thankful that what we have to deal with is simply multiracial persons.

    A Tribute to Women
Endowed with beauty both in body and disposition
She is the masterpiece of God's creation
And who can add anything to perfection
Designed and equipped so well to care and nurture
Depository of wisdom that will influence the future
Entrusted with bearing earth's great ones
Nourishing body, mind, spirit and soul
Ensuring the whole being is healthy and whole
Ignoring one's place in the social order
Pope, king, president, or pauper
This is the way and no other
Born cherished and cared
By a woman and mother

The benefits of confidence

My wish as always is for you to have a Happy Monday.

Life is designed of such that everything is not a clear black and white, and because of this we must constantly do battle in our minds as we seek to make correct decision. A battle that is fought and lost in the mind is already lost in the physical world.

One of the great tools with which we have been equipped to face life is confidence. Confidence is our feeling of self assurance arising from our appreciation of  our own abilities and qualities. It is difficult for others to know us better than we know ourselves because others quite often does not know the ways that life prepared us in secret. Through testings we verify our abilities and know deep within ourselves that we have the ability and that we can.

There is no man on whom all knowledge has been bestowed and ever so often it take a trained and /or mature eye to spot what is hidden because often an individual is not aware of his talents and abilities. Sometimes our talents and abilities will serve better in another field and up to talent search and recruiters to discover this. Confidence now takes on a different aspect because there is confidence as displayed by an individual and there is confidence displayed by another in the other person.

There is need for individuals to have confidence because while each person's experience is unique there remain that no one faces anything new in life. What ever situation each of faces someone has faced that situation before. How the situation is faced differ because responses range from suicide to inspiration to achieve and accomplish great things.

There are many person whose joy does not lies in their success or great achievement but in the challenges that are encountered on the road to succeeding. A goal or task that is accomplished without challenges is a goal or task that was not big enough.

Confidence say I can do this thing. Confidence say there is no adverse situation that remain permanent therefore I can overcome these obstacles. Confidence give the ability to venture out into the dark with the knowledge that the way forward will be found. Confidence give the ability to make rational decision while not taking unnecessary risks.

Confidence says all my life has been preparing me for a time as this. My faults and failures were not meant to crush me but now armed with the knowledge that I have gained I can now go forward to impact my world for good.

My African’s Princesses

Sizes ranging from petit to triple x
There's no reason to complain
Even less cause to be vex
Whether looking like broom stick in a dress
Or the ideal of a heavenly goddess
Everyone possessing the  essential
Although some do stand out from the rest

Stats that some consider the ideal
Yet my princes she is a steal
Exuding promises
Of trips to the heavens heights
No, no, don’t put her on display
She moves man’s blood from the head
To another part of his anatomy

The most beautiful in sizes and shapes
Perfection in body parts
Synchrony and coordinates
They are almost too good to be true
Don’t touch, those body parts are real
Not built in body shops
Located in the Philippines or in Brazil

Where other teases to excite
She oozes promises of delights
Confident in her uniqueness
Feminine through and through
Wanting to be conquered
To belong
Displaying weakness, because she is strong

Dominating the competition
Surpassing the standards of men
Glowing and naturally bestowed
Were they among the ones
That moved the ancient gods to lust
Grace and beauty so endowed
Dare I mention ideally proportioned

These are sizes triple x's
Let me be the one winning the conquest
Here's are others whose size is medium
Making my eye somewhat of a pendulum
Desirable and incomparable these are size is petit
Now I need my chest to be reinforced with a sheath
Cause my heart gets erratic and so rapidly beat
