The phone call

I am wishing for you a happy Monday.
One morning in the middle of last week a little thought entered my mind, what if God should ever decide to use man's means of communication? As I thought about this some ideas began forming so I got my pen and a piece of paper and began writing. Three hours later after typing what I had written I had to decide whether to share it or file it on my computer. I decided to share it in another forum to see how well it would be received. It was well received so I have decided to share it here also.

The phone call

The nice music you heard playing just now was my cell phone ringing

I did a quick check and it revealed an unknown person was calling

Although some callers can be quite irritating and annoying

Courtesy dictates I reflect my joy and pleasure in answering

It was well I did so, a voice even more pleasant than mine for me was inquiring

And it transmitted a familiarity that said about me he knew everything

Who could this be? I was mystified and musing

Today he had decided to make use of man’s way of communicating

So he had made a cell phone call instead of heart and mind inspiring

Yes, he identified himself as the Eternal One the great and mighty king

The cell phone almost fell from my hand as my heart began racing

Because instinctively I knew it was he and the truth he was telling

He had heard all the prayers I had been daily praying

And my three greatest wishes today he will be granting

I had no desire to rush and delayed by requesting time for considering

He was ever so gracious and gave the exact time when again he was dialing

I sat to contemplate the things from him I would be requiring

As the great Eternal One he could not back down from what he was promising

 “Is there anything too hard for me to do?”  That was his boasting

And I intended to make great and grand whatever I was requesting

I wanted money for King Solomon said money answers all things

With money I could have everything and excesses overrunning

But deep down I knew I had so much that the wealthy was lacking

I did not want money to deny me the pleasures of these enjoying

I could enjoy divine favor by asking for his blessings

But I did not want what came with his blessing, pain and suffering

Then there were my enemies, I would like to see avenging

I did enjoy testing him by being to those that hated me kind and loving

If this was removed I just feel something will be missing

I could ask that diseases be removed and I enjoyed perfect healing

This would remove my patient enduring that so many found inspiring

One by one I eliminated what in my life I thought was top ranking

And whatever I asked he would surely be granting

Three choices of anything I wanted became really confusing

Then it dawned on me that I was focused on temporary cravings

I considered then what was eternal and lasting

And made up my mind what I will be choosing

First although really scary I desired his favor and blessings

Second a guarantee of in his eternal presence living

Third that his perfect will my life be reflecting

He was right on time calling and he knew that I was laughing

But I knew he would not be annoyed but rather would be smiling

For so often I had murmured and complained of his ignoring my praying

I had focused on this life and what made for comfortable living

Now I was  given the chance I was opting for the everlasting

And he laughed knowing I was trusting my all into his keeping

Overcoming obstacles

My wish as always is that you will have a happy Monday.
Obstacles can either been seen as setback to your progress or opportunities to test your  resilience. Their effectiveness lies in how they are perceived by you.
Who are you that you should want to rise above the station that we have to you assigned? Do you want to think that you are better than us. A river can never rise above it's source and you will never be able to go any higher than those who have been before you. Do you really think and believe that we are interested in seeing you succeed?
If you have never had these questions and comments hurled at you in contempt by those closest you then you are fortunate indeed. A great teacher years ago noted that it is among his own that a prophet is without honor. Your power rest in whether to fit into the mold designed for you by others or whether you will break free and pursue your dreams. Some persons will even deliberately place hindrances in the way of your progress. Always remember that you are the only man that can squash your dreams.
A good indicator that others are not looking out for your best interest is seen in those who highlight their own achievement while belittling your efforts. Remember that you can never exhaust the power of inspiration that has been deposited inside of you. In this age of technology literal obstacles are being overcome in many ways.
   1. Use heavy equipment to demolish and remove
   2. Use heavy equipment to make a path through
   3.  Make tunnels and underground paths
   4.  Make overhead roads
   5.  Build bridges
   6.  Make use of transportation
   7. make use of technology

In reality the list is in exhaustive. There will be obstacles that originate in the mind that must also be overcome. These too require persistence and prayer because a victory won in the mind is a battle already won.  In the end where there is no test there will be no way to gauge you ability to stand and overcome in the face of adversity.

The power of passion

I am wishing for anyone reading this a happy Monday. That may be funny because I try to write something each Monday but persons read what I write throughout the week. I appreciate you taking the time to read.

Passion is the energy and excitement with which a dream is pursued. Pursuing a dream may not be an easy ask especially when it is something that exists in the mind and the task is to make real what at first was an idea or concept. This is especially so if the dream is easily achieved because that is an indication that the dream was not big enough and something bigger and more grand must be pursued.
Passion becomes the driving force that enables the taking on of the impossible, persisting in the face of failures and believing in spite of reality saying otherwise. Passion is the fuel that make dreams into reality because there may be a long time and distance between what began as a thought and putting together something tangible. Passion however provide the focus not to be distracted by the spin off ideas because the dream taking shape also mean the spawning of other ideas and concepts. 
Where some need alcohol and drugs to get high in order to face life passion take a man to a high that exceed a point where these can go without any ill effects. Disappointment is ever present but each failure gives renewed energy because he understand that failures only occur when there is success to be achieved.
A car's engine need gas for it to function, a man's body need food to burn to provide energy and dreams need passion to move them from being just concepts in the mind to man's exclamation "He must have been crazy to have imagined it in the first place."
That is the power and result of passion.

Today I would like for us to take a look at two definitions of a dream..
1. A series of images, ideas,  emotions and sensation occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep
2. A wild fancy or hope

Science is still baffled by the phenomenon of dreaming and cannot give an exact explanation for its occurrence. Many books have been written on the explanation and meaning of dreams and dreams have been the source of some persons fortunes. The Bible site dreams as one of the means through which God speaks to man. Today dreams continue to be the source of premonition, hope and inspiration.
Dreams that occur during sleep are involuntary but there is the dream that comes about as the result of the deliberate thinking upon ideas. As ideas are thought about images begin to take shape. These are the dreams that are described as wild fancy. The reality is that in our lives wild fancies comes true every day. This is why it becomes necessary to make our wild fancies huge and seemingly out of this world. If the mind has the power to conceive the fancy then there is the way to make the dream a reality.
The power in our wild fancies lies in their magnetism because as soon as the dream has taken shape then they begin to attract possibilities. Possibility spawns other possibilities. The first thing necessary is to have the dream and then the possible way of moving what is an image residing in the mind to something tangible that others can see will begin.

An idea is "Something, such as a thought or conception, that potentially or actually exists in the mind as a product of mental activity," (source: Free online dictionary).
we are creatures  of thought and we assess our thoughts before we act. It is during the process of assessing our thoughts that ideas occur. It is important that we differentiate between assessing our thoughts and acting on our instincts. We sometimes act from instinct which is a given response to a stimuli. Animals act from instinct and can always be expected to behave the exact same way to a given stimuli. Man because he is given to thought can formulate how he will respond.
Ideas does not have material on which they are built but it is impossible for a man to conceive an idea which he is incapable of bringing into being. The idea is that what a man's mind can conceive he can also achieve. It becomes a matter of willingness to persist.
I grew up in Jamaica where the game most loved was cricket. A test match lasted five or six days and in the end quite often there were no results because the match ended in a draw. Cricket to me is a game about patience ,skill and endurance. Cricket to me make an interesting comparison with American sports which lasts most times at most two hours and demand that in the end there must be a result.
Pursuing ideas to me is similar to a game of  test cricket. It call for patience, endurance and failure and at the same time it demands overcoming the best that the opposing side has. Ideas cannot be viewed as demanding immediate results but once you begin to pursue an idea it is going to spawn other ideas. You will then have to decide whether you focus on the one or incorporate the other ideas as you move a thought or concept from being mental to something tangible.

This week it is estimated there will be in excess of 20,000 thought going through my mind and going through your mind also. Our thoughts are the source of our ideas. This week I promise to meditate on at least two of those thoughts and acts on the ideas that result from meditating on my thoughts. My challenge for you is this, will you promise yourself to do the same with at least two of your thoughts this week?
Last week it was fascinating to see the thing that I desired to happen just falling into place. I began the week by thinking of the things that I would like to get done during the course of the week and how to get those things done. The things  got done but they certainly did not require the power of my mind or my input. That does not say I did not get anything done because I did quite a bit which was laying the foundations for future benefits.
The week before you and I is a week with fascinating possibilities. There will also be the uncontrollable circumstance but these help to make life all the more interesting. My other challenge always remain in place and it is this, ensure that at the end of the week there is something to show that you accomplished during the course of the week.
